Brendan Rodgers hints Craig Gordon will start Scottish Cup final for Celtic

Celtic are set to take on Motherwell in their final match of the season next weekend.

Brendan Rodgers has hinted in the Daily Record that Craig Gordon will start in Celtic’s Scottish Cup final.

Celtic are due to take on Motherwell at Hampden Park on Saturday, as they aim to complete the treble again.

And Rodgers has suggested that he could change things up, and put Gordon back in goal for the big occasion.

The Scottish stopper was not in Celtic’s squad for their match at the weekend against Aberdeen, with Scott Bain starting instead.

Gordon only trained on the pitch prior to the match, as he was protected by the Bhoys.

And although Bain did not do much wrong against Aberdeen, Rodgers has suggested that Gordon will come back in at the weekend.

“The good thing about Craig Gordon was that he was out there.We wanted to close him down for the week and we did that,” Rodgers said.

“But he was out with the other keepers before the game and has had no reaction so we will see how he is.

“He is a very experienced goalkeeper, he has been brilliant really in my time here, he always performs in the big games. But we’ll see what his fitness is like.”

Celtic were actually beaten on the final day of the season by Aberdeen, and their performance was well short of their best.

The Bhoys have typically been big game specialists since Rodgers took charge though, with Rodgers looking to protect his unbeaten record at Hampden Park at the weekend.
