Celtic may be signing two strikers in next month’s transfer window.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has told the Daily Record that he is now likely to target two strikers during the January transfer window.

The Bhoys landed Odsonne Edouard on a permanent basis from Paris Saint-Germain over the summer, but then lost Moussa Dembele to Lyon on deadline day in August.

Edouard and Leigh Griffiths have been carrying the workload in attack, but Celtic’s need for a striker has greatened this week.

Griffiths has taken a break from football for personal reasons, leaving Edoaurd as Celtic’s only recognised centre forward until the January transfer window.

Rodgers won’t want that to be the case for the rest of the season, and he has now hinted at his plans for next month, with the transfer window just weeks away.

Rodgers has told the Daily Record that Celtic may now need to bring in two strikers in light of Griffiths’ problems, as the Bhoys want three strikers competing for places.

Odsonne Edouard of Celtic FC looks on during the Ladbrokes Premiership match between Livingston and Celtic at Tony Macaroni Arena on November 11, 2018 in Livingston, Scotland.

Rodgers noted that the intensity of his play means he ‘definitely’ has to look at bringing in more strikers, and the Bhoys could see two exciting attacking additions arrive next month.

“There’s no doubt Leigh’s absence focuses things a little bit in terms of strikers,” said Griffiths. “We might need to bring in two more because we want three strikers to be competing for places. We know we can’t go through the number of games we have and at the intensity at which we play with the same striker so we will definitely look at that,” he added.
