The Celtic manager highlighted how Liverpool have to remain their focus and composure during the title run-in.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is seen during a training session at Lennoxtown on December 29, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers offered strong words of advice for his former club Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp, when speaking exclusively to talkSPORT today.

The Reds currently sit top of the pile, five points clear of second placed Manchester City, but they blew the chance to go seven clear on Wednesday night, managing just a draw at home to Leicester.

Klopp’s side have been wonderful to watch this season, but with just 14 games remaining, now is the time when they will have to rely on their ability to grind out games just as much as they will their attractive football.

Rodgers, who was in charge of Liverpool when they so nearly won the Premier League title in 2014, told talkSPORT how Klopp and his players must maintain their composure and focus, if they are to lift the title in May:

Brendan Rodgers the head coach

‘It’s just about trying to stay calm and focus on playing well, and if you can do that you get the chance to win. I look at it back in 2014, in our last 14 games we actually won 12 of them, drew one and lost one, but we still ended up losing the title. It’s a difficult one for Liverpool.”

Next up for Liverpool is a trip to West Ham on Monday night.

They then have back-to-back home games against Bournemouth and Bayern Munich in the Premier League and Champions League respectively, before they face what is arguably their most important game of the season – a trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.

And if Klopp’s Liverpool side emerge from that period unscathed, they will have every chance of winning their first top flight title since 1990.
