The Celtic boss singled out the Australian and his team-mate for special praise.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has told Celtic’s official website that Tom Rogic and James Forrest deserve special praise for their performance in the Hoops’ 5-0 League Cup demolition of Motherwell at Parkhead on Wednesday.
Australia midfielder Rogic started and finished the rout with goals on 20 minutes and 76 minutes, while a brace from Moussa Dembele and another from Scott Sinclair capped a fine victory for the former Liverpool boss.

He was not amongst the goals of himself, but Forrest also dazzled for Celtic in a performance which illustrated why Rodgers saw fit to extend his contract until 2019 this week.
Rogic also put pen to paper on a three-year extension yesterday and Rodgers has claimed both lads were “excellent” against Motherwell, adding that the 23-year-old is a “wonderful footballer”.

“You looked at the level of both players this evening – James with his pressing in order to get the ball and then his quality with the ball, his movement without the ball, while Tom Rogic is a wonderful footballer. Both those boys were excellent,” he told Celtic’s official website.
Indeed, Rogic, linked with Arsenal (reported by The Star) earlier this summer, is of course a very fine player and Celtic fans will be delighted to see him commit.
