Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has hailed Tottenham Hotspur’s Jose Mourinho as an ‘amazing’ tactician, after beating his side yesterday, in his press conference, which was covered by Press BureauTV’s Youtube channel.
Leicester ran out 2-0 winners over Tottenham on Sunday, as Mourinho’s side struggled to contain their attacking talents.
And beating Mourinho felt very sweet for Rodgers, as the Tottenham boss is someone who he has great respect for.
“We’ve had a lot of really good performances, but I think in terms of the strategy of the game [yes],” Rodgers said, when asked if it was Leicester’s best win of the season.
“Jose is absolutely amazing in terms of the tactical side, and you’ve seen how his team has been.
“What is good for us is we learnt from where we were six months ago, when we were 3-0 down within half hour.
“It was important that we imposed the way we imposed our way of playing, but also managed our counter attack and I don’t think we had any against us. That’s a great tribute to our players.”
Mourinho’s tactics had been rightfully praised since his arrival at Tottenham, but Spurs have rather come unstuck in the past week.
Tottenham have taken just one point from their last three games, which has seen them tumble down the table.
Mourinho has argued that his Tottenham side have put in better performances than results have suggested, but there surely could be few complaints about yesterday’s defeat.
Spurs barely threatened Leicester’s defence, who dealt with their attacking threats well.
The Foxes are now actually ahead of Spurs in the Premier League table, with Mourinho’ side falling out of the top four.
