Liverpool are reported to be keen on Southampton goalkeeper.

Liverpool are keen on signing Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, according to The Mirror.
McCarthy won the Saints number one spot last season from Fraser Forster and he is seen as a cheaper alternative by Liverpool to Roma’s Alisson or Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak.
Fans are not enthused at targeting another Southampton player, despite the recent successes of Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk.
McCarthy is an underrated talent who burst into the limelight five years ago with Reading, and drew gushing praise from then Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers after a performance against the Reds.

Rodgers raved about McCarthy, telling BBC Sport: “Sometimes you have days where the keeper makes one or two good saves, but we had 14 shots on target.
“I can see him playing for England, there’s no question about that. I know Alex well. He’s genuinely going to be a top, top keeper and to perform like that having been out for so long was absolutely staggering.”

Rodgers had previously worked with McCarthy, and perhaps not bringing him to Liverpool after that performance was an error.
McCarthy did go on to win a call up to the England squad, although was just an unused substitute.
Still only 28, McCarthy has had a quiet few years but after winning the number one spot at Southampton, he is proving his quality once again.
