The French midfielder has missed the last two weeks for Celtic.

Olivier Ntcham during the match between France and Luxembourg European Under-21 Championship 2019 Qualifying Round at Stade La Meinau in France on September 11, 2018.

Brendan Rodgers has admitted to The Glasgow Evening Times it is slightly possible that Olivier Ntcham could be fit for Celtic’s ‘next few games’.

The French midfielder was taken off at half time in the League Cup win over Hearts last month, before it was revealed that he had suffered a hamstring injury.

Ntcham, a £4.5 million signing from Manchester City in 2017, returned to Lennoxtown recently after spending some time in Clairefontaine for treatment.

Celtic have two more games before the international break – home to Leipzig in the Europa League tonight, then away to Livingston in the Premiership on Sunday – and Rodgers expects the former City starlet to be back in action when the domestic calendar resumes on November 24.

“It could be,” said Rodgers to The GET .“I sent him away to Clairefontaine to get some specific work on his hamstring and he’s come back feeling good.

“The medical team and the rehab team will assess him with that and see if we can use him over the next couple of games. If not, and it’s too big a risk, then we’ll have to look at him after that.

“He’s come back in but there’s a big doubt.”

Scott Brown and Scott Bain of Celtic react during the Rangers v Celtic Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match at Ibrox Stadium on March 11, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Considering that Scott Brown has also been missing for the Hoops, Rodgers’s side have done remarkably well without their two best midfielders.

Callum McGregor has taken up a slightly deeper role, while Ryan Christie – set to sign a new deal at Parkhead soon – has also impressed since coming into the side.

It’s testament to the strength of Celtic’s squad that they can miss two such influential players and it doesn’t affect them a great deal, but tonight’s visit of the Bundesliga side is a tough test for McGregor and Christie.
