Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata has enjoyed a remarkable rise to prominence since Brendan Rodgers took charge.

Boyata has become a vital component in Celtic’s first-team, with his performances improving hugely since Rodgers took charge at Parkhead.
The centre-back has gone from being a reserve player for the Bhoys, to becoming one of their main defenders.
And Rodgers has now revealed that Boyata is certainly in Belgium boss Roberto Martinez’s plans for the World Cup.

“Dedryck is very much in his plans,” Rodgers said.
“Roberto really likes him and that was one of the topics of our conversation.
“Dedryck’s history coming through with Belgium is very good. He obviously made a move to Manchester City and didn’t play so much there, so that has hindered him. But he has come out of that now, and if he can keep a level of fitness and availability, then there’s no doubt for me that he will be in the World Cup squad.”

Belgium have already booked their place in Russia next summer, after dominating their qualifying group.
Martinez’s national side are among the favourites to win the 2018 World Cup, such is the talent the possess.
Belgium can call upon the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne and Yannick Carrasco – with their attacking talents particularly impressive.
Boyata has only made one appearance for Celtic to date, after picking up an injury in pre-season.
