Should Celtic send Kristoffer Ajer out on loan in the January transfer window?
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has suggested to The Daily Record that he could send Kristoffer Ajer out on loan in the January transfer window.
Ajer had agreed to join Celtic back in February and officially moved to the Bhoys in the summer.
The 18-year-old midfielder is a very promising and talented young player, but he is struggling for playing time at the moment.
Competition for places in the Celtic starting lineup is fierce, and the Norway Under-19 international will have to work very hard in order to establish himself as a regular.
Rodgers, who was appointed the Celtic manager in the summer following the departure of Ronny Deila at the end of the 2015-16 campaign, has suggested that Ajer could be sent out on loan in January.
“I’ll consider it,” Rodgers told The Daily Record when asked if he was thinking about sending Ajer out on loan in January. “There is a possibility.
“I think players, like Kristoffer, would benefit from six months here to see how we work and what is expected at Celtic.
“But it also comes to a point where they need game time, and it must be at the correct club where they can develop.”
There is no point in Ajer warming up the bench at Celtic, and it would be best for the youngster if he spends the second half of the season on loan at another club.
A short spell at a club in the Scottish Championship would not be a bad idea, as it would help the youngster get used to Scottish football.
