Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side are in the unfamiliar position of having to play catch up in the Scottish Premiership table.
Brendan Rodgers has confirmed at his latest press conference that Celtic are in the market to sign players ahead of the January transfer window.
Celtic have struggled domestically this season, with the Bhoys not enjoying their usual dominance.
Celtic were beaten 2-0 in their latest outing against Hibernian, which has seen them slip down to third in the Scottish Premiership table.
But Rodgers has insisted that even before Celtic’s latest defeat he knew that additions would be needed in the new year.
“We’re very clear within the club as to what we need to do,” Rodgers said. “That’s to strengthen. Yesterday’s result didn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know.”
Celtic had a disappointingly quiet summer transfer window, with Rodgers’ squad still having some areas of weakness in it.
Celtic did not re-invest the whole of the fee that they made for Moussa Dembele, and they now appear to be under more pressure than at any time during Rodgers’ tenure.
Rangers have taken the lead in the Scottish Premiership table, leaving Celtic in the rare position of having to play catch up.
If Celtic do make investments in January, high up on Rodgers’ wishlist is likely to be a new striker, as his options up-front look short right now.
