Celtic edged out Alloa to reach the semi-finals of the League Cup.

Celtic sealed their passage into the semi-final of the Scottish League Cup on Wednesday with a 2-0 home win over Alloa, but something about the performance irked manager Brendan Rodgers.
Rodgers’s side were frustrated for large spells of last night’s win at Parkhead.
But two goals in the final seven minutes from James Forrest and Moussa Dembele were enough as Celtic laboured en route to the last four of the competition.

It could, and perhaps should, have been a tad easier for the Scottish champions, who spurned a number of goalscoring chances in both halves, adding to the anxiety levels.
And the former Liverpool manager, speaking to the Bhoys’ official Twitter page, has insisted that his troops simply must be a lot more clinical when goalscoring opportunities present themselves.

One positive for Celtic is that they still managed the victory, despite not being at their sharpest in the final third.
These type of games will crop up for Celtic every now and then, but Rodgers should take heart in the knowledge that his boys pulled it out of the bag when it mattered.
They put the disappointment of missed chances to one side, and going forward it bodes well that the Hoops – who were missing star striker Leigh Griffiths – found a way to win.
