Steven Gerrard has been linked with the manager’s role at Rangers.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has been quoted by Sky Sports as saying that Steven Gerrard will be well prepared for the expectation and pressure of being Rangers manager.
The Scottish Sun claim Gerrard, 37, is in talks with the Ibrox club about becoming the manager ahead of the 2018-19 season, with Graeme Murty’s future in the role unlikely to last beyond the end of the season.
Reports have suggested that Liverpool legend Gerrard has even approved the imminent purchases of Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield and former Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor, who is currently with Hull City.

Rodgers, who worked with Gerrard at Liverpool, discussed whether Gerrard feels it is the right time to come into management and believes the pressure at Liverpool and England will hold him in good stead at Ibrox.
“I’ve seen the speculation over the last couple of days,” Rodgers said. “I was a little bit surprised when I saw it. The most important thing when you’re starting out is when you feel the time is right and when you feel ready.
“It’s not about a club, it’s about the right club. If Stevie has spoken to them, there may be something in that he feels it is the right club. He’s always wanted to be a manager, I know that from my time working closely with him at Liverpool.
“There’s many [challenges at Rangers]. First and foremost it is the football challenge. He’s lived with expectation all his life, playing for Liverpool and captaining England as well.”

Murty, 43, was given the job until the end of the season by the Rangers board after the sacking of Portuguese boss Pedro Caixinha towards the end of 2017.
But the 4-0 loss to Rodgers’ Celtic has seen doubts grow over the former Reading defender’s future in the role, leading to a whole host of candidates being mentioned.
Along with Gerrard, Kilmarnock boss Steve Clarke has been named as a reported target, as well as Preston North End boss Alex Neil who has just two months remaining on his contract at Deepdale.
