The 24-year-old has left the Scottish Premiership side for Rotherham United.

Brendan Rodgers has explained to The Scottish Sun that Scott Allan could still have a future at Celtic after he was allowed to join Rotherham United on a season-long loan deal.
The 24-year-old struggled to make much of an impact during his first season at Parkhead, so it is hardly surprising that he has been allowed to link up with Millers boss Alan Stubbs who drew the kind of performances out of him that put him on the Hoops’ radar in the first place when they were working together at Hibernian.
And despite being the first midfielder in the first-team to be shipped out this summer – which, given the vast number of players in that position within the squad, perhaps provides a worrying indication of his place in the pecking order – Rodgers has insisted that it is too early to suggest that his days with the club are over.
“Since coming to the club last year, he hasn’t played a 90-minute game in about a year,” he told The Scottish Sun.

“The opportunity came up for him to go to Rotherham for a manger he knows. We will asses it when he comes back.”
With a handful of the midfielders within Celtic’s squad perhaps capable of doing very similar jobs, it was surely inevitable that Rodgers would look to move some of the players on in some capacity.
The fact that Allan is now more likely to receive first-team football will give him the chance to potentially stand out from the players he is battling with at his parent club, and make a statement to Rodgers ahead of when he does return next summer.
