Celtic and Glasgow Rangers drew 1-1 at Parkhead, but, unsurprisingly, there was some late controversy.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers and Celtic’s Leigh Griffiths after the match
Brendan Rodgers has disclosed that Clint Hill told him after Rangers’ draw with Celtic that he was lucky not to give away a penalty in the dying moments at Parkhead, The Scottish Sun reports.
Hill had just equalised for the Gers when he had to deal with Leigh Griffiths surging through on Wes Foderingham at the other end of the pitch.
After attempting to make a challenge outside the penalty area, the pair then closed in on the six-yard where Hill looked to try and make a tackle on Griffiths.
There is no question that there was contact between the two players before the 38-year-old appears to get his studs on the ball to take it out of the Celtic striker’s path before they both tumble to the floor.

Much to the Bhoys’ frustration, the referee did not point to the spot and Rangers held out for the draw which meant the Hoops failed to win a domestic game for only the second time this season. But Rodgers has insisted that Hill himself believed that the home side should have been handed the chance to score the winner from the spot.
“I thought it was a penalty at the end,” he said, as reported by The Scottish Sun.
“When Clint Hill tells me he got away with it at the end that lets me know it’s a penalty.

“We’ll take the point and move onto the next game.”
Based on who had the best opportunities from the game, it would arguably have been unfair for Rangers to come away from Parkhead with nothing.
Celtic fans however, will certainly argue that Hill’s challenge on Griffiths meant that they deserved the penalty that could have allowed them to go 2-1 up and keep their winning run going, and the defender’s admission to Rodgers will not help that frustration.
