Eboue Kouassi and Dedryck Boyata are still absent with injuries.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will be without Eboue Kouassi and Dedryck Boyata till the end of this month.

Eboue Kouassi, who joined Celtic in the January transfer window of 2017, suffered an injury earlier this month during Celtic’s Betfred Cup win against Kilmarnock.

According to reports from The Daily Record (printed edition; press reader) the 19-year-old Ivorian midfielder is facing an ankle surgery and will be out of action for at least two months.

He will undergo an operation on Thursday after examinations confirmed the inevitable.

Rodgers has revealed that Kouassi will undergo an operation, but didn’t mention the length of time he will be out of action. The Daily Record suggests that it will be for two months at least.

Meanwhile, Belgium defender Dedryck Boyata is progressing ahead of schedule, and could be back by September.

“Kouassi will have an operation. Boyata will be back in September,” said Rodgers, as quoted by the Daily Record.

Celtic will face Astana in a crucial Champions League qualifying round on Wednesday at Celtic Park.
