Moussa Dembele scored his 16th goal of the season for Celtic in the Champions League last night.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted to STV that Moussa Dembele started slowly against Borussia Monchengladbach last night.
Dembele ultimately scored Celtic’s goal in Germany, as the Bhoys collected a 1-1 draw against the Bundesliga side.
However, Rodgers admits that the 20-year-old’s touch was off, before he grew into the match as it progressed.
“He’s going to be a very, very, very good player. He’s still developing, he’s still learning,” Rodgers said.
“I thought he started the game a little bit slowly in terms of his touch and he was a wee bit static.
“But once he started to get on the move and once he started to find his touch to link the game for us, he was very good.
“You can tell with Moussa he is going to be a big player because he scores important goals in big games and that’s always the mark of a top-class player.”
Dembele’s goal came from the penalty spot, and it ensures that Celtic still have a chance of claiming third spot in their group.
The Bhoys will have to beat either Barcelona or Manchester City to move ahead of Monchengladbach and make it into the knockout stages of the Europa League.
To do so will be tough, but in Dembele they have a striker in brilliant form.
Dembele has now notched 16 goals in all competitions so far this season, and already plays an important role for Celtic, after joining from Fulham in the summer transfer window.
