Liverpool recorded all three points against Leicester City on Saturday in what was a drama-filled Premier League encounter.

Brendan Rodgers has defended Hamza Choudhury for his tackle on Mo Salah during Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was fuming with Choudhury’s challenge on Salah, which forced the attacker off late in the game, as his team went on to secure all three points.

Klopp stated that Choudhury’s challenge on Salah, which came as he was trying to run away from the defensive-minded midfielder, was ‘dangerous as hell’, as quoted by the Evening Standard.

Whilst defending his player, Rodgers made a bizarre excuse that when he went to watch the replay of the challenge, he couldn’t see it properly because of how far away the camera angle was whilst showing the challenge.

“I don’t think it was a bad challenge,” Rodgers told Bein Sports. “Mo Salah’s coming inside, the speed he travels and Hamzah’s coming back. There is a clash, of course.

“I’m not sure what it looks like [Salah’s injury], a dead leg. I have tried to look at it again and the camera’s quite away, so you don’t get the right close up of it. I think the emotion of the game, at that time, of course, it might seem a little worse than it was.

“I think he was just getting himself back, Salah cuts across him and there is a collision. He’s an honest boy Hamzah and he makes challenges, he’s aggressive, but I don’t think there was anything malicious in it, at all.”

There’s no doubt that Rodgers is being clever in his response to Klopp’s criticism, as the game at Anfield was full of drama from start to finish.

Rodgers returned to Anfield knowing that his highly-flying side had a chance of causing an upset or taking something from the game, but in stoppage-time, more controversy hit when Sadio Mane won a penalty.

Leicester fans felt that Mane went down too easily to win the penalty, which was coolly dispatched by James Milner in stoppage-time to ensure his team maintained their 100% to the new season.
