Former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly keen on signing Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos for his new club.

Alfredo Morelos of Rangers is seen in action during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premier League match between Rangers and Dundee at Ibrox Stadium on February 27, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

After dominating in Scotland, it won’t surprise many to hear that Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers is now looking at the Premiership to potentially boost up his new Premier League squad.

TeamTalk claim that while Rodgers is not looking at many players from Scotland’s top-flight, he has told the club to keep an eye on Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos because the former Celtic man believes he can have a big impact in England.

When Rodgers made the decision to leave Parkhead in such an abrupt manner, it is fair to say that it didn’t sit well with the supporters despite him winning seven domestic trophies at the club.

A large majority of the Celtic fanbase are pretty angry towards the 46-year-old, who previously claimed that the opportunity he was given in Glasgow was his ‘dream job’ [Belfast Telegraph].

Rodgers may never be forgiven for his actions because leaving during the business end of the season as Celtic chase the treble-treble has puzzled many.

But potentially luring Morelos away from their rivals, weakening them ahead of the new season, would perhaps just dampen the anger that has been aimed towards him since his departure

There is no doubt that when Morelos is on the pitch, and can stay on the pitch, then Steven Gerrard’s side have a much better chance of winning.

Over the course of the season, the highly-rated youngster has played 40 games in all competitions for the Gers, scoring 28 goals and supplying 11 assists [transfermarkt].

While it is highly unlikely that Rangers will stop Celtic from winning the title this term, because they hold an eight-point lead, their tales will definitely be up to stop their rivals charge next season. But they will need Morelos in their ranks.

If Rodgers does end up luring the Columbian international to the King Power Stadium then he will surely dent Gerrard’s chances of lifting the Premiership next term and please their Old Firm neighbours in the process.
