Sunderland are pursuing a deal for Celtic’s Lewis Morgan.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has been quoted by the Sunderland Echo as saying that there is concrete interest from Sunderland in Bhoys ace Lewis Morgan – but the move is up to the player.
Morgan, 22, starred at St Mirren last season and penned a deal with Celtic last January, before being loaned back to St Mirren for the second half of the campaign.
With 18 goals in 42 games last term, Morgan helped St Mirren win promotion, and Celtic fans were excited about seeing the young Scot in action under Rodgers.
However, this season has been tough for Morgan, as he has made just 13 appearances for a total of 304 minutes of action, with only two appearances since the end of November.
Morgan’s case hasn’t been helped the arrivals of Timothy Weah and Oliver Burke, and he is now set to go out on loan for the rest of the season.
The Express report that Aberdeen have held talks with Morgan about a loan move to Pittodrie, which would allow him to follow in the footsteps of teammate Ryan Christie.
Sunderland are interested too though, with manager Jack Ross keen to reunite with Morgan having worked together at St Mirren last season.

Now, Celtic boss Rodgers has confirmed Sunderland’s interest, as well as noting interest from other clubs, and is leaving the decision up to Morgan, with the end goal being consistent playing time between now and the summer.
“There’s an interest from Sunderland and from Jack and there’s one or two other clubs interested,” said Rodgers. “We believe that getting him regular game time is absolutely important and hopefully that move will take place for him. It’s about finding a club, but finding the right club that will give him the game time.”
“It’s up to the player. We can advise but the end decision is up to the player. He’s in his early twenties, he’s man enough now and all you can do is present the options, then it’s up to him where he wants to play,” he added.
