Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is hoping to land Odsonne Edouard permanently.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has told The Scottish Sun that chief executive Peter Lawwell is locked in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal for Odsonne Edouard.
The Bhoys have clinched another league title, their seventh in a row, with a superb season, and could yet clinch a second straight domestic treble if they win the Scottish Cup.
Celtic are thriving under Rodgers and look set to continue their dominance of Scottish football for some time yet, but they are still pursuing reinforcements – and a permanent move for Odsonne Edouard is a priority.
The French attacker, 20, joined Celtic on a season-long loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain back on deadline day in August, and arrived as competition for Leigh Griffiths and compatriot Moussa Dembele in attack.
However, Edouard has thrived for Celtic, hitting 11 goals in 29 games for the Bhoys whilst showing real potential to grow and develop even further under Rodgers.
Celtic fans now want to see Edouard stay at the club, and with questions over Dembele’s future, the Bhoys appear to be pressing ahead with plans to land him this summer.
Now, Rodgers has told The Scottish Sun that Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell has met with PSG in a bid to secure Edouard’s signature, with real hope that a deal can be agreed early into the summer transfer window.
“His contract is pretty clear. Peter has met PSG and talks are ongoing, so I’m hoping we can come to an agreement,” said Rodgers. “I know the boy is happy and PSG have enjoyed watching him develop here. It would be great if we could get this one done,” he added.
