Celtic are set to take on Barcelona and Aberdeen in their next two matches.
Glasgow Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed to the Daily Record that he intends to play Jozo Simunovic against Barcelona and Aberdeen.
Celtic face an important double-header as they take on Barca tonight, before facing the Dons in the Scottish League Cup final at the weekend.
Simunovic often struggles to play two matches in a week, due to his struggles with staying off the treatment table.
However, Rodgers has stated that he plans to start the centre-back in both of Celtic’s upcoming matches.
“I think all being well that will be the case,” Rodgers responded, when asked whether Simunovic would be fit to play in both of Celtic’s next two matches.
“I think playing on the Astroturf [Kilmarnock last Friday] was a no go.
“That was why it was a great result for us, not only did we win the game and keep a clean sheet but we had no injuries.
“Astro would have been a no go for him, but he has had the recovery in between and he will be fine.”
Simunovic did not play in Celtic’s last match against Kilmarnock, as Rodgers wanted to ensure that he was fit enough to face Barca.
Celtic need to win at least one more match in the Champions League to have any chance of claiming third spot in their group ahead of Borussia Monchengladbach.
If Celtic can move ahead of the Bundesliga side they will qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League.
