Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has told the Scotsman that he wants the Bhoys to wrap up their January business early on in the transfer window.

Celtic are set to travel to Dubai, as they look to participate in some warm weather training over the winter break.

And Rodgers wants to ensure that Celtic have the squad he wants for the second half of the season in place by the second week in January.

Celtic Manager Brendan Rodgers celebrates during the William Hill Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Aberdeen at Hampden Park on May 27, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

“We’d like to have the players we want in before we head to Dubai [in the second week of January] and the club are great at tying moves up,” Rodgers said.

“But getting new players is not always the answer. Last year was brilliant for us because we actually gained a couple of players.”

Celtic have already completed one signing in January, with Marvin Compper arriving from Red Bull Leipzig.

Compper is expected to bolster Celtic’s defensive options, as Rodgers looks to tighten up the Bhoys’ backline.

Celtic appear to also be eyeing up other additions, as they aim to strengthen their squad.

Celtic have European football to contend with in the second half of the campaign, after being drawn against Zenit St Petersburg in the knockout stages of the Europa League.
