Divock Origi joined Liverpool from Lille when current Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was in charge of the Reds.

Liverpool may have lost at the weekend, but there is one player who can feel good about himself.

Divock Origi scored his second Premier League goal of the season against Bournemouth away from home at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Origi found the net midway through the first half when he went past Artur Boruc and curled home from a narrow angle.

The 21-year-old has scored two goals and created five chances in 11 Premier League matches for the Reds so far this season.

The youngster is showing some very promising signs, and perhaps he could develop into the top striker that he was always expected to be.

Back in October 2014, then Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, now in charge of the Scottish Premiership club Celtic, spoke highly of the Belgium international striker.

“There are very few players who can replace Suarez,” Rodgers told The Daily Mail. “Actually there are no players who can replace Suarez.

“When you look at the availability of other players during the summer, it was something that was difficult for us.

“It’s no good now I know but we took a player in Divock Origi who we believe will be world class and we’ll get him in the summer.

“Now he is a top player. He has everything: the speed, the profile and so on and he (could) play (for Liverpool) now.”

Origi joined Liverpool from Lille in the summer of 2014 and was loaned back to the French club for the 2014-15 campaign.

The youngster scored five goals and created nine chances in 16 Premier League matches for the Merseyside outfit last season.
