The in-form Celtic hitman has three-and-a-half years left on his contract.

Brendan Rodgers told a news conference, quoted by Celtic’s official Twitter account, that Moussa Dembele has a “good and long contract” at Parkhead.

The 20-year-old cannot stop scoring at the moment and netted twice for France Under-21 against England Under-21 on Monday night.

The French hitman, a £500,000 signing from Fulham in the summer, has proved a revelation at Celtic after netting 14 times in all competitions already this season.

But his stock is rising at an alarming rate from a Hoops perspective, in the sense that the more attention he attracts, the harder it will be for the Scottish champions to keep him.

Dembele, who signed a four-year deal in the summer, has already reportedly attracted the interest of Paris Saint-Germain, but the Northern Irish manager says he hopes he can continue his development in Glasgow for “the next couple of years”.

Whether he believes Dembele will be at Celtic for a minimum of two more years is one thing, but the former Liverpool manager’s use of the words “a good and long contract” almost read like a reminder by Rodgers that his potential suitors will have to pay top dollar to prise him from Glasgow.
