Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has told talkSPORT that Joe Hart would be a good signing for Liverpool.

According to a recent report in The Sun, the Manchester City goalkeeper is willing to take a pay-cut to join Liverpool before the end of the summer transfer window.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that the 29-year-old is desperate to leave City after being told that he is not wanted at the Etihad Stadium.

Former Liverpool boss Rodgers believes that Hart would be a good signing for the Merseyside outfit.

“Liverpool is a great club and if his future is not at Manchester City and he’s got the chance to go to Liverpool then I’m sure it is something that he would look at seriously,” Rodgers told talkSPORT.

“You’ve got Simon [Mignolet] there and the goalkeeper they brought in who is injured but I’ve always rated Joe – I think he is an outstanding ‘keeper.

“His close friend James Milner is there as well – ‘Milly’ and Joe are very close. It will be interesting because it’s a great club and if he is to go there then it would be a great move for Joe.”

Hart is not among the ‘elite’ goalkeepers in the world, but he is certainly good enough for Liverpool.

The England international has proved himself in the Premier League over the years, and he would certainly be an upgrade on Simon Mignolet, who is the first-choice goalkeeper at Anfield at the moment.

According to a report in The Liverpool Echo earlier today, Liverpool are not interested in signing Hart from Premier League rivals City this month.

City are aiming to win the Premier League title this season, while Liverpool are targeting a top-four finish.
