Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers’s comments in The Scottish Sun regarding Scott Allan suggest that the midfielder could be sent out on loan in the January transfer window.

According to The Scotsman, Hibernian are interested in signing Allan from Celtic this month.

Rodgers told The Scottish Sun: “Scott’s a great guy who trains every day, works hard and is professional. But he’s been unfortunate he hasn’t been able to play.

“That’s really been through no fault of his own. The players have just been at a level and form.

“Scotty is probably at the age where he wants to play. He knows he has the talent to play in most teams.

“We have a plan for all the players and we sit down and talk regularly in terms of what’s going to be in their best interests and the interests of the club.”

Loan move away

Allan is a very good midfielder who knows the Scottish Premiership inside out, but there are players better than him in his position in the Celtic squad.

Given that the former West Bromwich Albion prospect has yet to establish himself in the Celtic first team, it does make sense for the 27-year-old to leave the Hoops on loan in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old midfielder was at Hibernian for the 2014-15 season before joining Celtic, and had a loan spell at Easter Road during the second half of last season.

Allan is popular among the Hibernian fans, and a loan move to Easter Road will be good for him.

Hibernian are not having a good season, and Allan will be a good acquisition for Hibs.
