Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has told the club’s official Twitter page that Filip Benkovic will be out of action for four to five weeks.

Benkovic, who joined Celtic on loan from Premier League club Leicester City in the summer of 2018, suffered an ankle injury at the weekend.

The 21-year-old central defender did not feature for the Hoops in their Scottish Premiership game against St. Johnstone on Wednesday evening.

Celtic boss Rodgers has said that the Croatian youngster will be on the sidelines for the next four or five weeks.

Disappointing for Celtic fans

Benkovic has been one of the best central defenders in the Scottish Premiership so far this season and has been playing well for Celtic.

The injury to the youngster will come as a blow for the Hoops, especially as they have a busy schedule ahead including a Europa League tie.

Celtic are going strong in the Scottish Premiership at the moment and are the favourites for the league table this season.
