Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata is again being linked with Fulham.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has told The Scottish Sun that he is ‘not worried’ about the new rumours linking Dedryck Boyata with a move to Fulham in January.
The Bhoys were back in action on Saturday afternoon following the international break, and picked up a thumping 3-0 win over Hamilton Academical.
Ryan Christie and Leigh Griffiths scored either side of a Scott Martin own goal as Celtic eased to victory on the road, keeping another clean sheet in the process.
A key part of that clean sheet was centre back Boyata, with the win coming on the same day that he was linked with a new move away from Glasgow.
The Daily Mail report that Fulham – now managed by Claudio Ranieri – are once again interested in signing Boyata in January, having attempted to sign him over the summer in a failed.
Boyata, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season and looks set to move on in 2019, whether that’s through being sold in January or heading on a free transfer to another club.
Boss Rodgers was asked about the situation after the win over Hamilton, and he admitted that he is ‘not worried’ about the rumours, as he isn’t surprised that good teams want to sign him, branding him a ‘top-class player’.
“I’m relaxed about it and not worried, really,” said Rodgers. “You can see that he’s a top-class player, so you have to expect that. He’s playing regularly now for the number one ranked team in the world.”
“Over my time here he’s grown and developed and improved, he’s a top-class defender for me and when he does the basics well he’s very, very good. I’m sure that teams will look at him – and really good sides,” he added.
