Celtic haven’t yet got everything tied up with striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has told the Daily Record that he is still waiting for the final touches to Vakoun Issouf Bayo’s move to be finalised.

The Bhoys have signed three players so far this month, having first landed winger Oliver Burke and striker Timothy Weah on loan from West Bromwich Albion and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.

Celtic then brought in another attacker, agreeing a deal with Slovakian side Dunajska Streda to sign striker Bayo after hitting 18 goals and seven assists in 23 outings this season.

Bayo’s move is though subject to a work permit, which was supposed to be decided on last week amid concerns he may not meet the criteria to play in Scotland.

The 22-year-old striker has picked up just one cap for the Ivory Coast, meaning he would have to be grant permission on ground of being a ‘special talent’, much like Eboue Kouassi was two years ago.

So far though, there has been no word on Bayo’s move being completely finalised, with a work permit and international clearance seemingly holding a deal up.

Whilst Burke and Weah made their competitive Celtic debuts at the weekend, Bayo is still left waiting, even after joining up with the Bhoys in Dubai earlier this month.

Now Rodgers has suggested that there is no need to worry just yet, but he is still waiting for the deal to clear the final hurdle so he can finally use the striker in his Celtic side.

“Not that I am aware of, no. Not yet,” said Bayo. “I think there are other elements to it. It is just waiting on that. I am only guided by the club, really, I haven’t been given that. It was just time and hopefully that will take place soon,” he added.
