Stuart Armstrong is currently on eight goals for Celtic this season, and he is thriving at the Glasgow club now.
Brendan Rodgers has told the Glasgow Evening Times that Staurt Armstrong has become a vital player for Celtic in recent weeks.
However, Rodgers admits that when he first arrived in Glasgow – Armstrong was a player who he had some doubts about.
The 43-year-old manager claims that Armstrong had a tendency to give away possession far too easily, but he has worked hard with the former Dundee man to cut that flaw out of his game.
And Armstrong has reaped the benefits of Rodgers’ coaching prowess, with his performances being much improved in recent times.
The 24-year-old has netted five goals in his last nine Celtic appearances from midfield.
And Rodgers said: “When I first came in he gave it away too cheaply. He wants to progress to be a player so we reinforced the possession element of his game. He’s also got a good range of pass, can shoot and is good on set pieces.
“He’s fundamentally learned the position – how I would see that played as a No.8.
“If I put him at centre-half he’ll probably score. He’s just that type of player. He’s got an in-built brain for getting in the box and getting goals.
“When he’s in and around that area he wants to score goals.”
Armstrong is now Celtic’s fourth top scorer – with only Moussa Dembele, Leigh Griffiths and Scott Sinclair ahead of him in the Glasgow side’s scoring charts.
Armstrong good form has helped Celtic establish a 19 point gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, and remain unbeaten over the domestic season to date.
