Rangers are reportedly set to sign striker Jermain Defoe.

According to Sky Sports News (03/01, 4pm), Bournemouth have agreed to send striker Jermain Defoe on loan to Rangers in an 18-month deal.
Defoe, 36, has found first-team football hard to come by with Bournemouth since re-joining the club from Sunderland in 2017, and he hasn’t even started a league game this season.
The forward has been made available for a loan move away this month, and after summer links with a move to Rangers, Steven Gerrard’s men have again been touted as a destination.
Now, Sky Sports News (03/01, 4pm) report that Bournemouth have struck a deal with Rangers to send Defoe to Ibrox on loan for 18 months.
The deal is claimed to have two recall points in the deal; at the end of this season and in January 2020, giving Bournemouth the chance to bring the veteran back to the South Coast if needed.
Defoe of course played alongside Gers boss Steven Gerrard for England, and the pair now look set to reunite in a major move for the Ibrox club just days into the January transfer window.

Defoe may be approaching the end of his career, but he should still have enough in the tank to support Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty in the Rangers attack.
It’s a major signing for Rangers, who have gone into the winter break sitting joint-top of the table with Celtic, and they will surely feel that a proven goalscorer like Defoe can help them win the crown this season.
