Mesut Ozil showed Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta what he was missing in training on Saturday.
Arteta put his side through their paces at London Colney ahead of this evening’s visit of Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Ozil is, of course, ineligible to play for Arsenal after Arteta left him out of his revised Premier League squad.
It was a pretty controversial decision and one that the 32-year-old said on Twitter that he was ‘deeply disappointed’ by.
But it looks like his omission hasn’t dampened any of his ability after the North Londoners uploaded training-ground footage of him yesterday.
In it, Ozil can be seen producing a number of defence-splitting passes for his team-mates.
Here’s how Arsenal fans reacted to the video:
Arteta’s side have only managed three goals in their last three Premier League games – and only nine in seven matches overall.
They aren’t exactly scoring for fun and stats like that make you wonder whether Ozil actually is needed.
Then again, the Spanish manager, who led Arsenal to victory at Old Trafford last week for the first time in 14 years, delivered an FA Cup title a few months ago.
He’s still wet behind the ears in terms of management, but the 38-year-old clearly knows what he is doing and his decision on Ozil has to be respected.
