Les Ferdinand told Premier League Productions (15/08/21 at 1:20 pm) that he is ‘surprised’ West Ham haven’t signed Jesse Lingard.
The former striker shared that he thought West Ham would ‘break the bank’ for the 28-year-old this summer.
After ripping it up in West Ham colours last season, Lingard returned to Manchester United this summer after his brief, yet pretty game-changing loan spell.
As things stand, Lingard is still a Manchester United player, but with weeks remaining of the transfer window, will West Ham get their man?
Well, Ferdinand suggested that he is a player those in East London should be looking to bring back.
“I am surprised they haven’t gone in for him,” said Ferdinand. “I thought they would break the bank for him.
“But there’s not a lot of clubs that have done a lot of business. I think this pandemic has hit a lot of people hard.
“I think come the last two weeks of this August month, we will see a lot of clubs go to business.
“I think these first few games, they will look and assess their sides. Then it will allow them to see what they really need. Then they will have a panic-up.”

One of the big reasons why David Moyes’ side finished in a Europa League spot last season was because of Lingard’s January arrival.
He brought this added freshness, spark and goalscoring threat that lifted the team to another level.
His brace on debut at Aston Villa was proof of that and if he doesn’t earn game time at Manchester United during these first few games then he simply has to leave this summer.
But will those in the West Ham boardroom stump up the cash for his talents?
