Palmeiras star Dudu has lauded his former teammate Danilo after signing for Nottingham Forest, with the 31-year-old claiming that the midfield talent is good enough to play for Arsenal.
Speaking to the Athletic, the attacker was full of praise for Danilo, who this week signed for Forest in an £18m deal despite being heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, with the Gunners cooling their interest in the youngster this January.
Dudu said about Danilo’s quality: “He is a star, he has to play in the Premier League. I always tell him, ‘You have to play in Manchester United, or Arsenal‘. He has to stay calm, he is a kid who gives his all, but I tell him, ‘You are a player for Chelsea, those kind of teams.’”
As per the Athletic, Danilo has become Forest’s 24th signing since the City Ground side won promotion to the Premier League. However, a real statement can be made that the Brazilian is arguably the most exciting out of the lot given the 21-year-old’s quality and promising potential.

Indeed, Arsenal were chasing Danilo in the summer transfer window with the Gunners expected to reignite their interest in the midfielder this January. However, with an attacker now Mikel Arteta’s priority, a deal to sign the South American was always going to be unlikely.
There could still be some hope with Arsenal signing Danilo in the future, though. With Forest fighting for Premier League safety, an immediate relegation back down to the Championship could open the door for the Gunners to land the midfielder as early as this summer, potentially at a cut-rate deal, as well.
Nottingham Forest signing Danilo could be one of the deals of the window

Having been so strongly linked with Arsenal, many were surprised when Forest captured the signature of Danilo this week. Yet for supporters of the Nottingham club, there’s a real chance that the midfielder could go on to become one of the best deals in the January transfer window.
As mentioned by his former teammate Dudu, Danilo is a star in the making and has the potential to become one of the best midfielders in Europe. And for Forest, their Premier League safety bid could be determined by how quickly the Brazilian settles in Nottingham.
