Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz continues to impress, as he begins to establish a role for himself in the Brazilian side.

Luiz has enjoyed an excellent season so far, with the Villa man starting to attract attention.

And his display for Brazil last night will only have helped to improve his reputation.

The Villa midfielder helped his country to a 2-0 win over Uruguay.

And the Brazilian press were keen to praise him after the game.

Lance wrote: “He helped the midfield sector with tackles and a good physical presence. In addition, he was very early in the construction of the moves.”

O’Dia, meanwhile, said: “Closed the spaces, appeared to facilitate the exit of the ball and unburdened the middle.”

Luiz’s stylish display for his country matches the sort of quality performance that he has been putting in for Villa on a consistent basis now.

The 22-year-old is rapidly turning into one of the claret and blues’ key players, with Dean Smith making him one of the first names on his side’s teammate.

Luiz has helped Villa make a flying start in the Premier League this term, with the Midlands side currently sat in sixth spot in the Premier League table.

Villa return to action this weekend with a game against Brighton & Hove Albion.
