West Ham United have been given a huge boost in their bid to sign Joao Mario from Inter Milan.
West Ham have been linked with loan move for Inter Milan and Portugal midfielder Joao Mario, as reported by the likes of Sky Sports.
The Hammers have turned the corner under David Moyes and lifted themselves up to 11th in the Premier League.
The congested nature of the top flight means the East Londoners are far from safe, though, and injuries are starting to take their toll.
David Moyes has publicly stated he needs to bring in at least two players this month and that is becoming more acute by the day with star man Manuel Lanzini out for over a month and Andy Carroll joining other key players like Winston Reid and Michail Antonio in being ruled out long term.
The Hammers’ loan with an option to buy bid for Euro 2016 winner Mario has been on-off for the last week with the player said to ‘need convincing’ over the move.
But the path now looks to be clear for Moyes to get his man after Inter completed a similar deal to sign Brazilian Rafinha from Barcelona on loan with the option to buy at the end of the season for £30 million, as reported by BBC Sport.
The players play in the same position and Mario has been a flop at Inter since a £39million move in 2016 so the writing looks to be on the wall for the Portuguese.
Moyes is desperate for more quality in midfield and players who can look after the ball better.
Mario will certainly do that and would be something of a coup if West Ham can get his signature.
