The first international break of the season is coming to an end, and it has been a mixed few days for Everton fans ahead of the Premier League’s return.

They saw Jordan Pickford lose for England against Spain on Saturday, Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffered an injury for the England Under-21’s, whilst the major blow has come with defender Seamus Coleman, who has suffered a stress fracture in his foot on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.

Youngsters Fraser Hornby and Henry Onyekuru have thrived with Scotland and Nigeria respectively, whilst the huge boost came this morning in Richarlison’s performance for Brazil.

Handed a first Selecao call-up off the back of his superb early season form for Everton, Richarlison was handed a starting role in attack for Tite’s men against El Salvador this morning.

Richarlison responded by winning the penalty for the first goal, scored by Neymar, before curling home a stunning second from the edge of the box, sending the ball into the top corner of the net.

Philippe Coutinho slammed home a third before the break, with Richarlison then hitting his second and Brazil’s fourth with a fine finish into the near post, and Marquinhos capped off the scoring with the fifth, heading a corner into the net.

Richarlison’s display was unsurprisingly the big story to come out of the game, as the man who Everton allegedly ‘overpaid for’ when signing him from Watford this summer ended up wearing the No 9 shirt for his country and scoring twice in a dream debut.

Everton fans took to Twitter to hail Richarlison, but had worries that he would be on the move fairly quickly if he continues this form, believing that fans should enjoy him whilst he is still at the club, with some feeling his value has shot to £60million overnight just off the back of his Brazil display.

Brazil fans hailed Richarlison, comparing him to Cristiano Ronaldo whilst suggesting that he has been better than Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino in the leading striker role for Brazil, hailing his all-round display as his link-up impressed many as much as his goals.
