Marcel Brands admitted that he’d love to sign PSV Eindhoven’s latest Eredivisie wonderkid Ihattaren for his Premier League employers Everton.

Everton’s director of football Marcel Brands was asked by VI about the player he would love to sign earlier in February. And fans might have been left a little stumped when he came up with the name Mohammed Ihattaren.

“Frankly, I’d like to have him with Everton tomorrow, he’s so good,” Brands said.

The Dutchman certainly knows Ihattaren well from his spell at the helm of PSV Eindhoven. But the midfielder is just 17 years of age and only made his Eredivisie debut a month ago in a 2-1 win against Groningen.

In the last four weeks, however, Ihattaren has shown why Brands is such a fan. He is not just any ordinary 17-year-old after all.

The teenager has come from nowhere to become an established part of the PSV squad, featuring in each of their last five league games. He is yet to score a goal or produce an assist but his technical ability and vision has stood out a mile.

Ihattaren has provided a key pass every eight minutes on average. And he’s not got a bad shot on him either, firing a stunning goal into the top corner as PSV’s reserves drew 2-2 with Roda JC at the weekend.

This is just a little glimpse of the quality Ihattaren would bring to Everton, if Brands can get his claws on him.
