West Ham United are reportedly keen on PSV Eindhoven’s Jorrit Hendrix.
Last week, Calciomercato reported that West Ham United are keen to bring in PSV Eindhoven midfielder Jorrit Hendrix having seemingly been impressed with the Dutchman.
Hendrix, 23, has come up through the PSV ranks having arrived in 2004, and has now won three Eredivisie titles in four years having emerged as an important player.
Hendrix has only picked up one international cap for the Netherlands, but is a composed holding midfielder with great defensive ability, as he can even play at centre back if needed.
That could be vital for West Ham, especially if they can’t agree a new contract with Declan Rice, but one club who should be ready to rival the Hammers is Everton.
Everton director of football Marcel Brands was in a similar position at PSV, meaning he saw Hendrix up close for many years, and will know all about his quality.
Everton have had some issues in the middle of the park, as whilst Tom Davies is getting back to his best under Marco Silva, Morgan Schneiderlin continues to struggle and Andre Gomes hasn’t appeared yet due to injury, with his loan expiring at the end of the season.
That may leave Everton in need of another central midfielder, and one who can offer additional depth at centre back behind Kurt Zouma, Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and the ageing Phil Jagielka would be deal.
Hendrix fits the bill, providing depth in both positions, and Brands shouldn’t allow West Ham a free run at a player he knows so well; instead, he should look to bring him to Goodison Park in January to bolster Silva’s options.
