The Tottenham Hotspur youngster is side-lined with a serious injury.
Young Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brandon Austin has been speaking to the club’s official website about his fellow stopper Jonathan De Bie.
The latter moved to White Hart Lane back in the summer but after suffering a ruptured spleen earlier this year he is set for a spell on the side-lines.
That setback saw Austin take to the field for Tottenham’s recent FA Youth Cup match against Newcastle United, and the Spurs youngster had a message for the 16-year-old Belgian.
“Obviously Jonathan played in the first game of our FA Youth Cup campaign against Stevenage and we want to do well in the competition to show him our respects,” Austin told tottenhamhotspur.com.
“He’s away in Belgium recovering from his injury so all the boys have wished him well…and if we can do well in this competition it shows him that we are still fighting for him and for ourselves.”
De Bie moved to Tottenham after leaving KV Mechelen and in time he is expected to challenge for both club and international recognition.
Austin will want to do right by him in the short term, but in the years to come the pair could be fighting for a starting spot in Tottenham’s senior side.
Tottenham will now face Chelsea in a two-legged semi-final with the prospect of facing Stoke City or Chelsea in the final later this season.
