Tim Sherwood thinks Antonio Conte has ‘brainwashed’ people at Tottenham Hotspur and Daniel Levy has ‘never’ backed a manager like he is now doing with the Italian, as he told Premier League Productions.

Tottenham have made an unbeaten start to the new Premier League season after securing Champions League football last time out and Sherwood is confident that Conte will win silverware this term.

Before players could return for pre-season, Spurs were already making moves in the market, including breaking their club-record transfer when they signed Richarlison from Everton.

The likes of Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma were other notable signings, whilst Cristian Romero has recently turned his loan spell from Atalanta into a permanent deal.

Usually, Levy is known to be one of the talking points of the last few days of the transfer window and perhaps the main event of deadline day itself.

But those days are now seemingly gone because, with Fabio Paratici running the club’s transfer ship now, Spurs are a different beast and Sherwood is confident all of this will result in success.

“Conte has brainwashed the players,” said Sherwood. “I think he is brainwashing the fans, for the right reasons (it’s not about style but results).

“He will come close as anyone at winning something. Pochettino came close and he did it with a bit of style. Antonio doesn’t worry about the style. It’s not a negative. It’s not a slant on him at all. I just think he is a born winner. He has won silverware wherever he has been. I back him to win silverware this season. I think it’s this season or not at all.

“To be fair to the chairman Daniel Levy, he has backed him. He gave him money and he gave him it early in the window, which he has never done to anyone else before. But he trusts him.

“Daniel has almost been pushed into a corner. I believe him when he talks. There isn’t any acting about him. It’s all from the heart and I am all for that.”

WORLD-CLASS CONTE

There aren’t many elite managers in world football, but Conte can be put into the bracket given the jobs he has done in Italy and England over the years.

The £13m-a-year (Daily Mail) man has transformed Spurs since replacing the now unforgettable Nuno Espirito Santo and the best could be yet to come.

The issue with Conte has always been longevity and not keeping the seat warm long enough, but even then, he still does the business.

Either way, however or whatever he does, the excitement at Hotspur Way is the biggest it has ever been for many, many years and the players now have to make it count.
