Jerry Bruckheimer revealed the news while attending the annual Academy Awards luncheon in Los Angeles. “We’re working on a sequel.”
He did not provide a production timeline and stopped short of confirming whether Pitt will return as Sonny Hayes.
Bruckheimer did indicate that he will remain involved in casting decisions as development moves forward.
The first F1 film was released last summer and generated $630 million at the global box office. It stands as Apple Original Films’ most successful theatrical release to date.

The movie has earned four Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. Bruckheimer admitted he was both surprised and pleased by the level of awards recognition.
Production on the original film took place during the 2023 and 2024 Formula 1 seasons. Filming occurred at live race weekends, including the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
