Tottenham Hotspur are currently fifth in the Premier League and 10 points adrift of the summit.
Brad Friedel has told The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast that was broadcast on talkSPORT on December 12th 2016 that Tottenham now have a perfect opportunity to close the gap between themselves and current Premier League leaders Chelsea.
Following their 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend, Spurs are now fifth in the table and 10 points adrift of the current league leaders Chelsea.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
But while some may have written Tottenham’s title hopes off already, Friedel has suggested that Mauricio Pochettino’s men could swiftly bring themselves back into contention.
“Mauricio will see 10 points distance between he and Chelsea, I know he’s going to want to claw back as much of that as possible,” he told talkSPORT.
“And there’s a great time to do that and that’s the Christmas period where there’s a lot of games in short succession.”

With five league games coming in the space of just over three weeks, Friedel is arguably right to suggest that his former club can close the gap between themselves and the leaders.
Their next four games pit them against teams that currently sit outside the top six, so there is perhaps no reason why they cannot target taking maximum points from those fixtures.
And if they can do that, they will take a tremendous amount of confidence into a potentially season-defining clash with Chelsea in early January that may perhaps present them with the chance to put their current run of form completely behind them.
