Tottenham Hotspur are set to meet Southampton at St. Mary’s this evening.
Brad Friedel has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 28th December, that he expects Tottenham Hotspur to beat Southampton this evening.
Spurs are set to take on the Saints at St. Mary’s later today, and they are under pressure to get the three points.
Tottenham have watched all their rivals for a top four spot win over the festive period, meaning that Mauricio Pochettino’s side will need to pick up the victory to ensure that they don’t slip behind in the race for a top four spot.
A trip to Southampton looks set to be a tough test for the Lilywhites, but Friedel is confident that his former side will be able to get a victory.
“Tottenham are a good side, and I expect them to go there and get the three points,” Friedel said.
Spurs are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table, while Southampton are in eighth spot.
If Tottenham do get the victory this evening, they will move to within one point of fourth placed Arsenal.
And Friedel believes that Spurs will be in the Champions League qualification spots by the end of the season.
“I do [think Spurs will make the top four], I know those players very well and I know how they work,” the former American international goalkeeper said.
“I’m sure that Spurs fans won’t be happy with the form of Liverpool and Manchester United’s. I envision that they will remain in the top four like last season.”
