Erik Lamela scored a very special free kick in a friendly victory for Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon.

Jose Mourinho’s side continued their pre-season preparations by beating Reading 4-1 in North London.

The Argentina international added a fourth for Tottenham on 52 minutes by clipping a wonderful effort over the wall.

Head coach Jose Mourinho didn’t offer much by way of a celebration, slumping back in his seat with a neutral expression, but some Lilywhites fans are raving about the goal on Twitter. Here’s how they’re reacting:

Lamela joined Tottenham from Roma seven years ago and it’ll be interesting to see if he can finally get a run in the side without getting injured.

According to Transfermarkt, the 28-year-old has missed 636 days through injury, which equates to over 18 months.

As talented as he is, it’s hard for Tottenham to rely on a player like this, but he’s fit for now and hopefully for him he can show Mourinho what he can do throughout the 2020-21 campaign, though he’ll never be first choice under the Portuguese.
