Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake is reportedly attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
After two transfer windows of empty rumours, Tottenham’s rumour mill is now up and running and the fans could potentially be in for a treat this summer.
The Sun have recently claimed that Spurs are plotting a £40 million move for Bournemouth’s highly-rated defender Nathan Ake as Mauricio Pochettino looks to replace Manchester United target Toby Alderweireld.
It is said that Tottenham are currently the favourites to land the signature of the 24-year-old ball playing defender, who has won two Premier League titles during his time at Chelsea.
If Spurs can pull off a deal for Ake then they would be making their signing of the summer because he is a talented defender, who should be playing for a team in Europe.
Whilst he isn’t near the level of his Dutch counterpart Virgil van Dik, left-footed Ake has the capabilities of taking his game to a very high level and that would only increase if he were to work under a manager like Mauricio Pochettino.
Ake would suit Spurs style of play because he can perform in a flat back four or produce the goods in a back three. Not only that, he is very comfortable on the ball.
Playing for an Eddie Howe side at Bournemouth, he is constantly asked to bring the ball out from the back, not forgetting that he is an excellent reader of the game and he is a versatile player.
Added with that, given his age, he has plenty of time on his hands and he wouldn’t just be a player for now, but a player for the medium to long term future.
Plus, from an individual perspective, he has been producing the goods for Bournemouth for a long time and he has gained valuable experience in England’s top-flight, experience and talent which could work wonders at Tottenham under Pochettino.
