Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson celebrates scoring their fifth goal
AFC Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson has had his say on the 6-1 rout against Hull City at the weekend, insisting in an interview with the Bournemouth Echo that the Cherries will not get complacent despite such a good result.
Wilson netted his third league goal of the season as Bournemouth put Hull City to the sword on Saturday. However, the 24-year-old’s attitude appears to be grounded as he stated that his side were looking ahead to the rest of the league campaign.
Hull City’s Adama Diomande looks dejected at the end of the match
“It was just a normal day at the office. I’ll just go home, relax and look forward to next week. There’s nothing to cheer about. It’s a good victory but it’s a long season.
“We’re trying to be consistent. After the international break it’s a case of trying to get the momentum back.”
After such a big victory, particularly one in which he scored, Wilson could have been forgiven for getting carried away. However, this was not a problem as he praised the entire team for carrying on even when they had done enough to win the game.
“The main thing was the team performance. When you’re four goals up, you’re delighted with your team-mates and with how we’ve played and we would have taken 4-1.”
Bournemouth’s Junior Stanislas scored twice on Saturday
The Cherries are now unbeaten in their last three games and have won their last three at home in the league, and it is precisely this kind of form they will need to replicate if they wish to continue their streak against Tottenham Hotspur next week.
Bournemouth lost that fixture 5-1 almost exactly one year ago.
