Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has delivered some hard truths about Liverpool’s defending.

Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic did not hold back when discussing Liverpool’s defending on Sky Sports’ The Debate show.
Liverpool’s defensive frailties were exposed once again on Sunday as they were beaten 4-1 by Tottenham Hotspur.
Begovic believes that the Reds show no desire to defend and lack basic organisation.
“I think for Liverpool it is a combination of things: communication, positioning and the desire to defend is lacking for Liverpool,” the Bosnian international told Sky Sports.

“They don’t look organised, they don’t look like they want to defend. I look at some of their players and the first thing is how good they can be on the ball, how they can pass and go forward and how the full backs can attack and join in. I don’t think their first thought is defending.
“I think as a unit they look all over the place and there could be many reasons. Confidence once again is low and there are people making bad decisions so it seems to be a bit of a mess.”
Liverpool might argue that Begovic, part of a Bournemouth team who has kept one Premier League clean sheet this season, is not qualified to comment.

But the 30-year-old was at Chelsea last season when manager Antonio Conte’s focus on defensive shape turned the Blues into champions of England.
Their defeat to Spurs at Wembley was littered with individual errors, but it is clear that the whole defensive unit is in need of more attention during training.
Liverpool have leaked more away goals this season than any other top-flight team – 15 in five matches – and have already conceded four times as many times as the Manchester clubs they are hoping to chase for the title.
