Hosts Bournemouth sit second-bottom after a disappointing start to the season and are hoping for inspiration from their new signings as they entertain mid-table West Brom this weekend.

Jack Wilshere is the headline addition to Eddie Howe’s squad, and the midfielder got valuable minutes under his belt in a friendly against AC Milan last weekend. Wilshere could make his competitive Cherries bow this weekend in midfield alongside the returning Harry Arter and Andrew Surman.

For Bournemouth to climb the table, they need to start finding their form in front of goal. They have netted just twice in the opening three games, and star striker Callum Wilson is yet to find the net. Big-money summer signing Jordon Ibe has also disappointed to date, with the winger under pressure from Max Gradel for a starting berth on the wing.

West Brom are similarly goal-shy, having found the net just twice themselves, but Tony Pulis’ side are resolute defensively and travel south with four points on the board from their opening three fixtures.

Hal Robson-Kanu could make his Baggies bow from the bench

Pulis will hope the addition of Hal Robson-Kanu, who starred for Wales in this summer’s European Championships, adds threat to the Albion attack. The striker is likely to make his Baggies debut from the bench here, with Pulis likely to pack the midfield as is his custom away from home.

Club-record signing Nacer Chadli could start on the wing for the visitors. The Belgian winger comes with Premier League pedigree having netted 15 times in 88 games for Tottenham, and Albion fans will be hoping he adds some excitement to their often ponderous attacks.

This fixture last year ended in a 1-1 draw, and the way both these teams have started the season it would not be unreasonable to expect a similar scoreline this weekend.
