Nathan Ake has told The Mail he will be rooting against Tottenham Hotspur this week.

Ake scored a winner against Spurs at the weekend, heading in an injury time corner to win 1-0.

The centre-back says he will be supporting Ajax in this week’s Champions League semi-final.

Ajax have a 1-0 first leg lead after winning at Tottenham’s new stadium.

Ake said he will be supporting his countrymen: “We have these group chats so we always say good luck to each other before games. We try to keep the [national] team close.

“Everyone would be proud if Ajax win the Champions League. Hopefully they can do something magical.”

Ajax’s terrific season has already seen them knock Real Madrid and Juventus out of the Champions League.

Now they are favourites to see off Spurs, already having a first leg advantage.

Tottenham have now lost three matches in a row, with their match at Bournemouth failing to give them the spark they wanted ahead of this week’s semi-final.
